Wine Storage Temperature Tips When your wine has been bottled take careful steps to make sure that desired temperatures are maintained so that the wine is held stable. Store wine in cool tempatures at about 55degrees F which helps keep oxidation at reduced level. Do not get stressed over keeping to that 55degrees because the differance in quality from say 65degrees is only marginal Darker storage areas are preferable.
It is very desirable to avoid temperature flunctuations so if this can only be done with a slighty higher temperature so be it.Flunctuations of temperature can be hard on wine and will eventually downgrade it through the effects of expansion and contraction.Wine glass expands and contracts as does wine but not at the same rate.Wine generally expands and contracts at a greater rate than the glass, triggering a pressure build up which can force aroma through the cork, or on the other hand, drawing carbon dioxide into the bottle. The results can greatly effect the taste.
Make an effort to monitor temperatures by checking them at least twice every day. This will give you some idea of any daily temperature variation and you will be in a better position to aleviate such problems.
